Trading The SPFL : Weekend 3rd February

Trading Scottish football every week with Scottish Football Tips

Hello readers,

A nice few days for the Trading Service with winners both last weekend and this midweek – our satchels are full going into this next bout of action. However, as we have always pointed out at Scottish Football Tips, discipline is a key component to a successful betting structure. This round of fixtures is a perfect example of where we need to draw on that resource – there is very little to go at. The prices, for the most part, are as they should be.

We do have one selection where value has sprouted from nowhere. After being priced up at a very short 8/15, St Mirren are now available at even money. I note that my colleague Colin is also on board with this selection (a very good sign when everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet).

The Buddies are in great form and went to Dunfermline last week and collected a well deserved three points. There is a real chance that struggling chasers Dundee United will again drop points this weekend with a tricky away tie in the Highlands – Jack Ross is experienced enough to know that this Saturday could well be the final nail in the coffin for any lingering title challenge emanating from Tayside.

Queen of the South are no pushovers, but they are having another very inconsistent season. Quite difficult to predict week on week, they carry a huge threat in Stephen Dobbie but otherwise their arsenal is lacking.

St Mirren have pace, power, skill and energy and should be odds on to win this match. My 100% line is 1.76 on a home win (this equates to 56.82%). This means that since there is evens on offer (which equates to a 50% chance) then we believe there is a substantial amount of value in siding with St Mirren.

So, fingers and toes crossed for a good result in Paisley. A good lesson to take away this week though is that not only are we hunting for value, we must have the discipline required to ensure we don’t go backing selections just for the sake of it.

Good luck with your bets!

(ED: Thomas has chalked this up as a three star selection. As Colin has already advised 1% of bankroll it is advised you top it up with another 1%. Therefore your total outlay on St Mirren should be no more than 2% of bankroll.)
