Trading The SPFL Tips – Betting Staking Plan

Shares

The first thing to note is this betting staking plan is to be used in conjunction with good bankroll management

It is also the staking advice suggested for use with our Trading Scottish Football service and has been designed specifically by our in house trading expert, Thomas.

With that in mind we are ready to examine the betting stakes advice supplied.

Betting Staking Plan - Six Star System

We use ‘Six Stars’ which demonstrate how much we will stake on each trade released to subscribers.

This is calculated by comparing the price on offer at a particular bookmaker with what we believe the actual price to be, as well as taking into account the expected profit of each individual trade.

With this method, we are able to apply a uniform set of staking rules to each individual trade and ensure that we are placing the appropriate financial wagers.

This is a key aspect for any successful bettor.

  • After reading this advice you must tailor it to suit your own needs
  • Everything is in relation to YOUR bankroll and you should always bear that in mind when placing bets.

For each individual user, the staking levels will likely be different – someone may have a betting bank of £50,000. Someone else may have a bank of £5,000 and someone else may have a bank of £500.

By applying ‘stars’ as a staking plan it allows each user to work out how much of their bank should be staked on each individual trade.

There are no hard and fast rules as to what a maximum/minimum bet should be. One way of looking at it would be to say to yourself ‘what is the maximum amount I would ever be happy to stake/lose on a single bet’. This could be set as your maximum (a six-star bet in this case) – It makes it easier to work back from there.

The worked example below will demonstrate someone with a £10,000 bank to stating that £500 (or 5%) of this bank would be the maximum they would ever be happy to lose on a bet.

6 Star Bet = £500.

The same person may decide that the following makes up the remainder of their staking plan –

5 Star Bet = £400

4 Star Bet = £300

3 Star Bet = £200

2 Star Bet = £150

1 Star Bet = £100

It is very much up to each individual to come up with their own staking plans – the most important part is to stick to what levels you set and ensure that your maximum bet isn’t a ridiculous figure – you probably want to keep it somewhere between 5-7% of your starting bank.

If you don’t commit to following the stake levels that you have set yourself you may end up with a three-star bet one week at even money and staking the correct amount of £200.

Let’s say it loses and you are down £200. The next week another three-star bet at even money appears, but this time you only stake £100. Let’s say it wins… You are down £100 overall, but if you had stuck to your staking plan both bets would have levelled themselves out.

This is only a basic guide to staking plans, but it’s something that everyone should be paying serious attention to and thinking about before throwing money at their bets.

We can not emphasise enough that you need to tailor this to a level that you are comfortable with. If 5% of your bankroll is a little too high for a maximum bet make your max stake 4% or lower if that's what you're comfortable with.

The main point behind the betting staking plan is to make your bet sizing as uniform as possible. This is to make sure you make the most of bets that are extremely good value every time.

Once more we need to emphasise  that you need to tailor this to a level that you are comfortable with. ALSO do note that this system is to be used in conjunction with our Trading Scottish Football service ONLY.

Other services have their own individual staking plans. This is simply representative of individual tipsters having their preferred ways of operating.

Under no circumstances should you apply this betting staking plan to the 'Premiership Previews' five star ratings system we put out on a weekly basis.
