Trading Scottish football every week with Scottish Football Tips

At time of writing our Wednesday evening trades haven't yet completed but that shouldn't stop us from trying to get in good on Scottish Cup weekend.

That will be our main focus as most of the value available from the weekend's league matches was again snaffled quickly after markets opened.

Worth pointing out once more that I posted early bets in our inplay telegram messaging group. Apart from the remarkable returns our inplay betting strategy is returning that's a very good reason to join in.

Trading The Scottish Cup

First off I am very keen on Partick Thistle at East Fife. The Jags will start with no more than two of the side who lost here on Challenge Cup duty. A vastly different team and one that has been augmented with enough quality to see this game out.

Steven Saunders and Steven Anderson will shore up a defence that has been far too leaky this season. Alongside Christie Elliot (a player I admire) and Jack McMillan there is an excellent blend of youth and experience.

For creativity they have called in Gary Harkins and Joe Cardle while young Alistair Roy will fancy his potential of making an impact if he gets enough chances.

They all augment quality already at the club. Spittal, Doolan, Storey and the enigmatic Souleymane Coulibaly. If on their game it ought to be too much for The Fifers to handle.

And they have been on their game. Five games without defeat and three wins in a row. An excellent win last time out in Inverness (with the performance to boot) and Stranraer were comfortably dispatched in the last round of the cup.

East Fife are no mugs though and are performing very well in League One. They sit in third place just two points behind Raith Rovers. With a good blend of youth and experience all across their side they will look to their victory over Morton in the last round for inspiration.

They are capable of upsetting their more illustrious opponents and an upset it would be. But the bookies have chalked the home side up as favourites and that doesn't tally for me.

Were it the Thistle side of two months ago then, yes, maybe so. But now we should take advantage of  the generous price on a Jags side who appear to finally be making progress under Gary Caldwell.

We could play safe with the draw no bet option of 1.83 (5/6) but we should really take a chance on the WDW price of 2.75 (7/4) for 3% of bankroll. Taking them on the handicaps may be a little optimistic but I can't resist a wee stab on -1 at 5.0 (4/1) for 0.5% of bankroll.

Once handicap lines are proffered by the bookies we may come back to look at some of the favs such as Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen.
