Trading Scottish football every week with Scottish Football Tips

We had a wee week off from trades last weekend after a successful Scottish Cup foray the weekend before.

The coming weekend could see a lot of call-offs with the cold snap threatening most of the action in the lower leagues. But current forecasts expect it to warm up before Saturday morning so we must carry on regardless.

Trading The Scottish Premiership

Hands up if you were amongst those thinking Kilmarnock might struggle after Greg Stewart left for Aberdeen? I was, for sure. But how foolish of us to doubt the job Steve Clarke continues to do at Rugby Park. Even for a second.

Since returning from the winter break they have moved forward in the Scottish Cup, beaten Rangers and got a very creditable draw in Aberdeen. The Dons have been in excellent form but Killie stifled and stymied them. They never looked like losing.

At home to Hearts this weekend, who to be fair look to have recaptured some of their early season form now injuries have eased, they ought to surprise a few people once more.

Kilmarnock have won five on the bounce at home with Rangers and Hibs falling by the wayside. You only have to go a few matches further back to note they also sent Celtic packing.

Kilmarnock 0.0 asian handicap is priced at 1.75 (3/4) and worth taking a chance on for a small 1% of bankroll investment.

Do note this game kicks off on Friday evening.

Trading Scottish League One

Forfar were a fancy of mine from the start of the season but a slow start made that fancy seem foolhardy. Turning into 2019 and they have turned their season around with four league wins on the spin. The most impressive being last weekend's 0-2 win at Arbroath.

I am fond of mentioning John Baird and much like Forfar he started slowly but six goals in his last ten matches have taken him to double figures. The loan signing of Adam Eckersley from St Mirren brings Championship quality to the defence.

With Rovers looking forward to two big matches coming up, Hibs in the cup and then Arbroath, we can hope they take their eye off the ball. And they may still be reeling a little from losing Daniel Armstrong to Ross County.

Having only signed in November he scored five goals in nine games from the wing and his creativity will certainly be missed.

Taking Forfar with a +0.75 asian handicap comes in at 1.91 (10/11) and is worth a 2% investment.

Trading Scottish League Two

Anyone who has been paying attention to some of my outpourings on Twitter, or indeed read my rationale for this week's even money double will know I believe I have spotted something happening at Queens Park.

Their last two performances have beggared belief. From a position where they had failed to win in ten matches they outperformed Stirling Albion (significantly) and then set new records in trouncing Berwick Rangers last weekend.

Nothing much has changed in terms of personnel, just one in and one out. But something has clicked. You don't turn in two excellent performances like that on the bounce unless you were building up to it.

Everyone can get lucky and have a good day. Even teams who are bang out of form like The Spiders were. But there was nothing lucky about the four points they have recently picked up. If anything they were unlucky not to get six.

Meanwhile Elgin have brought in Kane Hester from Arbroath. But going out to Peterhead is talismanic striker, and revered club man, Shane Sutherland. That's double figures in goals right there. Hester got off to a flyer last weekend but he has precious little game time under his belt in the last two seasons. And of course they still have defensive problems to be deeply concerned about.

There is a hint of value on Queens Park for my money who may be on the verge of something good. Taking 0.0 Asian Handicap comes in at 2.02 and is worth a 1% of bankroll investment.
