If you asked me three weeks ago about this Stranraer v Dunfermline betting prview I may have said to set in on Dunfermline. Since then The Pars have won just 2 of their last 6 matches and suffered a confidence shattering defeat at New Saint Mirren Park on Saturday past.

The Blues, for their part, have gone on to collect two excellent victories away from home and now find themselves a single point from the playoffs.

I was at last weeks game and excited about seeing Dunfermline in the flesh for the first time to make judgement on the heralded League 1 champions elect. As good as Saint Mirren were, Allan Johnston’s charges were just as bad and even more disappointing.

A 4-0 defeat just wasn’t on the cards, supposedly, and a lot of punters saw their hard earned drift into the pockets of the bookies. Dunfermline looked disjointed, lax at the back and totally toothless up front. They better hope it was just an off day.

The way Dunfermline fans have been talking about the past few weeks, anyone who punts them at a best 1.7(7/10) with McBookie and Ladbrokes could end up with the same result. Especially now with the potential for their leading scorer, Fayssal El Bakhtaoui, to be out injured for a few weeks.

Joe Cardle knows that his team will have to tur around their Scottish League 1 fortunes if they are to come out on top of this Stranraer v Dunfermline betting preview live on BBCALBA

Stranraer v Dunfermline Betting Preview and Betting Odds

I am definitely more tempted by Stranraer in this game than Dunfermline and have been swithering over exactly how to maximise what I see as real value.

For the home side to win with Draw No Bet insurance pays 3.75(11/4) with Skybet and that is mighty tempting. The bet is a little futile though with just one drawn game for either side all season.

The same applies with a +1 handicap as all you’re covering against is the draw. So the only option left is to go all out and back Stranraer to win outright at 4/1 with Coral, for a smaller stake.

You could play with the +0.75 Asian handicap market that would see a return for a draw or a win and half your stake returned if Stranraer lost by a single goal. The higher stake required for the price of 1.89 with Ladbrokes could leave me sweating unnecessarily in my own opinion.
