Scottish Lower League Tips 12th January

Expert betting tips from Scotland's lower leagues and across the whole of Scottish football.

Hi Readers / Subscribers at Scottish Football Tips.

I trust you all had an enjoyable festive season and now in recovery mode. Was fairly quiet at SFT, for lots of reasons, a number of which I pointed out. It's also evident in my many years of compiling and tipping that December is not a month when punters are at their sharpest. It comes with the territory.

Returned with a dandy winner last week ( albeit a late message ) This may be the trend in January as almost every day we have to glean through websites, forums, contacts etc to see latest moves, both in and out.

However trying to balance that by playing on bookies ricks early in week is a fine dividing line. Happy to say anything that is delivered by myself will have had all the necessary checks done.

Saturday I go to league 2. Stirling Albion draw no bet at 1.89 (8/9) for 1/2 of your normal stake. (ED: 1% of bankroll)

Not unnoticed but certainly under the radar, Stirling's recent arrival as manager Kevin Rutkiewicz has put together a dandy wee run. Only 1 defeat in 10 games, they still lie in 7th spot in the league. Improvement for sure though, they were 9th when he breezed in to Forthbank from his previous remit as assistant boss at Annan. Who do they face on Saturday, Annan, incentive enough but with a bit of optimistic expectation.

Fantastic win at leaders Edinburgh last week, a glance through team lines shows 2 or 3 players still missing but to my learned eye was getting closer to strongest line up.

Front paring of evergreen  Peter McDonald  and Darren Smith played the full 90mins. Euan Horne was back in defence and midfield trio of Jardine, Hughes and Docherty also completed full game.

Positive the confident gaffer will see the 7 point gap between his charges and Annan as bridge-able. The visitors will provide a stiff challenge as they too were closer to best 11 in a victory last week.

Also sure the board at Stirling will lend a bit of leeway when it comes to delivering a couple of new additions to playing staff. Without being over confident I rate Stirling's chances of avoiding defeat at lesser odds than the 10/11 on offer, indeed I make them 11/10 to win the match. A generous 8/5 is freely on offer.

Play the DNB route because we're only on Wednesday and much water can run under bridges between now and kick-off. Realistically 4 teams are in the hunt for the coveted 4th spot in league 2. Stirling trail Annan by 7pts, Elgin by 4 and are 1pt behind Cowdenbeath.
