Scottish League Cup betting preview.

This Scottish League Cup betting preview has something of a deja vu feel about it. It has all the teams from the weekend involving sides from the Scottish Championship to Scottish League 2 with the exception of Saint Mirren who are replaced by the Scottish Premiership side, Hearts.

Some of the ties are even identical with Livingston being drawn at home to Clyde for the second time in a week.

This should be good news for those interested in betting on the back of the Scottish League Cup betting preview. Last weekend was a profitable weekend and to be entirely honest, we could probably copy and paste our preview from last week, just changing the teams.

One difference on this weeks will be less bets with just one five-fold acca and one single to contend with.

Another difference will be the actual scheduling as the games are spread across four days from Thursday to Sunday. Our five-fold acca has a game on each of them.

As mentioned last week, Scottish football can be easy to predict when their are mismatches across the divisions.

This weekend there are large mismatches with the likes of Hibs, Hearts and Rangers all facing opposition from the lower divisions. These three teams alone could be worth doing in an acca in and around 13/20.

There should be no harm in including the Scottish Championship sides Falkirk and Morton. The Falkirk Bairns left it late last weekend but should continue their winning streak.

Morton host an Elgin City side who have a distance to travel and word is that Saint Johnstone may prevent their loanees from playing to stop them from being cup-tied.

The five-fold pays best with Boylesports at 2.88(47/25).

The main single in this Scottish League Cup betting preview comes from Somerset Park where Ayr Utd host Brechin.

Ayr had a decent win in the Challenge Cup against Scottish League 1 new boys Albion Rovers. The scorer of the first goal in that game was former Brechin star man, Alan Trouten.

Trouten is a massive loss for Brechin and that was noticeable as they were hammered 0-3 at home by Peterhead. New rookie manager, Darren Dodds, has a job on his hands trying to emulate the work of former coach, Ray McKinnon.

Ayr Utd look to be very generously priced by Skybet and William Hill at 2.0(Evens). The Honest Men have been heavily backed to win the Scottish League 1 title this year coming in from 16/1 to 6/1 very quickly.

Early form suggests that there were some wise heads on the prices early and Ayr Utd should have plenty in hand to see off Brechin.

The local paper here confirms that St Johnstone have blocked Hurst (Goalkeeper) from playing tomorrow and Ross County have blocked MacLeod (striker) from playing, so we still have Hunter and Gordon available out of the loan players. I’ve taken Morton -1 with Boylesports at 21/20

Nice one. As I was saying the other day, our 2nd choice keeper isn’t up to much, so Morton would have to be quite poor not to score at least a couple tomorrow. Losing MacLeod up front deprives us of our only physical attacking threat, so I can’t see us causing them too much trouble at the other end.
