Scottish Even Money Double Preview

Happy New Year and hopefully some new luck for the Even Money Double. Last weekend's loss needed to be seen to be believed. Suggested at 2.02 with a closing price of 1.59 and all but home and hosed with Edinburgh City 0-2 up in the 90th minute. Incredible but a reflection of the last three months for the EMD. We appear to be stuck on the wrong side of variance.

The positive of course is that we know this will change. We know variance swings both ways. Most of all we know the EMD remains a profitable selection and is still only a couple of wins away from profit for the season.

However a word of warning for the month of January and in particular the first week of the month. There will be plenty of squad movement in the lower leagues. Lots of it under the radar.

So this will be a quiet weekend for us. The EMD and inplay likely to be the only two services on offer.

Good luck us.

Scottish Even Money Double Selection 1 - Raith Rovers v Stenhousemuir +0.5 FIRST HALF GOALS

Siding with stats this weekend and Raith Rovers are the League One kings for a first half goal. Eleven of their twelve measured games have seen a goal in the first half. Opponents Stennie have seen ten from their twelve.

In Kevin Nisbet Raith Rovers have the countries third highest league goalscorer (17 in 19 games). That is some going considering Shankland, Henderson and Dobbie's goals record this season.

But they have plenty of other options too and since John McGlynn came in as manager they have seen plenty of action at both ends of the park.

Both teams have scored in ten of his twelve league games with more than two goals in nine of them. No blanks drawn and never less than two goals.

Stark's Park is goal central right now and well worth taking a chance on.

Scottish Even Money Double Selection 2 - Annan Athletic v Elgin City +0.5 FIRST HALF GOALS

Elgin City are League Two's equivalent to Raith Rovers. Indeed they are probably even better goal producers. Elven of their twelve measured matches have also seen a first half goal and like Raith they have become virtually guaranteed.

It owes much to a shambolic defensive line. Only Berwick Rangers have conceded a higher goals average over the last twelve matches. Over the course of the whole season only Albion Rovers can be added to that list.

Of course they are level on points with opponents Annan in the battle for the last playoff place. A considerable achievement considering the amount of goals they concede.

It of course points to a solid attack with Shane Sutherland now the second highest scorer (11 in 18 games) behind the prolific Blair Henderson.

Indeed they are as likely to score in the first half as concede. Particularly against an Annan side who tend to be more adventurous at home.

Only Edinburgh City have scored more home goals than Annan with only Elgin, Berwick and Albion Rovers conceding more at home. Another one that is absolutely worth a go.
