Scottish Even Money Double Preview

Last weekend's double saw both legs called off due to the weather.  None the less the EMD has found some solid ground after our unprecedented run which I will hopefully be able to stop mentioning soon.

This weekend I am looking to one of the form sides up against a side bang out of it and another team so full of goals I will be blown sideways should they miss out.

Scottish Even Money Double Selection 1 - ABERDEEN (DRAW NO BET) v Hearts

The Dons have found their feet and are, remarkably, just a point off the top of the Premiership at time of writing. Last night's 5-1 smashing of Dundee was an exceptionally strong performance and they were well deserving of their win.

Of course finding goals has helped their excellent run of form (seven wins from nine in the league) although I defy anyone who predicted Sam Cosgrove being the chief goal getter.

But equally important has been they way in which they have solidified defensively. Sure, they have continued conceding goals for the most part (Rangers away being an exception) but in their last three matches they have given up a mere seven shots on goal in total.

I am happy to put the goals scored by Dundee, St Mirren and Livingston down to anomalies and predict we will see a few more clean sheets from Aberdeen.

That has a real possibility this weekend against a Hearts side who are really struggling. The Jambos have drawn three blanks in their last four away games and should still be reeling after the 5-0 hammering meted out by Livingston.

Hearts really need to see some defenders return from injury (Dikamona joined Souttar and Dunne on the long term injury list at Livi) while their strikeforce is suffering a similiar fate.

The Dons, with the bit between their teeth can take advantage on Saturday.

Scottish Even Money Double Selection 2 - Queens Park v Elgin City +1.5 TOTAL GOALS

We are mostly looking towards Elgin City to complete this leg. By scoring at least once and conceding at least once. They have bagged twelve goals in their last five matches while conceding a whopping fourteen.

With Shane Sutherland back to his best (eight league goals in ten games) they have potency. However defensive issues plague them so badly they had resorted to playing the ageing Craig Beattie at centre back. Not a strategy anyone would want to employ for too long.

Only Berwick Rangers have a higher average goal production rate and that is saying something given how many goals the border side have conceded.

Of course Queens Park are at the opposite end of the goal production table. However suspensions should still be hanging over Dom McLaren and Gerry McLauchlan after last weekend's call off.

That leaves their defence short and it is something the attack minded City can take advantage of in the wide open spaces of Hampden. But Queens Park should fancy their chances of getting on the score sheet here too.

A game we should fully expect to see at least a couple of goals from.
