Scottish Championship Predictions.

It seems but a few weeks have passed since we were making our Scottish Championship predictions for last season. How quickly a year can pass by in football. You can check out our previews for all of Scottish Football here.

There weren’t many then who saw past Rangers comfortably winning the title and automatic promotion. Not many but there were some.

Backing Hearts was one of our biggest Scottish Championship predictions of the season and it paid off at a handsome price of 7/2. Backing the Edinburgh side each-way seemed like a no brainer to punters but the bookies continued to offer the big price.

This year they are being much more cautious and if truth be told you couldn’t put the same amount of confidence in Hibernian. At a price of 3.5(5/2) the option for each-way backing like last season has been omitted by the bookies’ prudence this time around.

Simply put, Hibs are not as good as the Hearts side of last season so don’t deserve to be a shorter price unless Rangers are a damn sight worse?

Rangers are looking for a quick exit this season.

Well, that remains to be seen. The Gers  have a new management team of Mark Warburton and David Weir and it is all change on the player front with an exodus in double figures and new players likely to be added all the way up to the window closing.

As of yet they have signed some players who look like being capable of playing at a level beyond the Scottish Championship. Martin Waghorn, Rob Tiernan and Danny Wilson are the best of them but their squad remains thin on the ground, particularly in the striker department. Could you confidently back Rangers to win The Championship at a price as low as 1.57(8/13)? No, neither could we.

Hibs’ key transfer business has been holding onto key players like Scott Allen although with Aberdeen knocking on his door now that’s not a given. Alan Stubbs has also re-signed Mark Oxley, Liam Fontaine and Lewis Stevenson and these re-signings could be key for them. James Keatings has joined from Hearts and he will bring much needed goals.

Scottish Championship Predictions.

This means that there is one bet that offers up some opportunity and the potential for profit from this Scottish Championship predictions betting preview.

Outside of Rangers and Hibs there are no realistic contenders for the title. Saint Mirren may put up a fight but it’s all change there too and a slow start could be detrimental to their chances. Queen Of The South have lost a lot of quality so are likely to fall short this year.

Falkirk could be there or thereabouts but are not really Champions material and will aim for the playoffs and some luck along the way.

So if you take Rangers out of the betting it leaves Hibs as strong contenders, almost guaranteed champions. You can back Hibs without Rangers at a price of 1.73(8/11) with Paddy Power and William Hill and it’s worth a big stake. So long as you’re comfortable in waiting a season for a 73% return on your investment.
