Ladbrokes Scottish Championship

With Storm Henry leaving a wee sting in his tail the last place you would want to be is the Wee Dublin End at the mouth of the Clyde estuary.

That alone is enough to stop me from betting on this game but favourite backers should take note of more than just the weather. Morton put it right up to Rangers here last week and their performance on that occasion will have put the frighteners on Alan Stubbs.

There is plenty of confidence about this Hibs side though, exemplified by their excellent semi-final victory over St Johnstone on Saturday. I do wonder how much that game took out of them and how much celebrating took place after they secured their league cup final place.

Hibs were very busy in January with no less than seven departures and five incoming transfers. The most notable of them were Anthony Stokes, Chris Dagnall and Kevin Thomson. They will definitely have added something to their squad and will all likely be champing at the bit to take part in the Championship run in.

Stoke and Thomson made their names at Hibernian before making big moves to Celtic and Rangers respectively. While Thomson will be looking to wind down his playing career here Anthony Stokes still has something to prove.

Morton have suffered a blow with the news that on loan Rangers defender Luca Gasparotto will be missing for two months with an injury. There was no sign of any immediate signings to replace him so the Morton defence will have their hands full against the Hibs attack and the best midfield in the division.

Morton v Hibernian Betting Preview Betting Odds

Hibs are as low as 1.5 (1/2) but as high as 1.62 (8/13) with Skybet and that’s not a bad price all things considered. Morton are available at 5/1 with bet365, McBookie, Boylesports, Ladbrokes, Coral and William Hill while the draw is a best 4.33 (100/30) with bet365. Hibs to score +1.5 team goals is 1.7 (7/10) with Boylesports and William Hill and that could be a better option.

On the goals markets less than three goals would be the preferred bet which pays out at even money with bet365 and Skybet. Both teams to score is also available at even money with bet365.

It may be worth taking a punt on the correct scores of 0-1 and 0-2. A Hibs 0-1 win is best priced at 7.5 (13/2) with Skybet and McBookie while 0-2 is available at 8.5 (15/2) with McBookie.
