Two points separate Killie and The Jags near the foot of the Scottish Premiership table.
Both sides can look to an upturn in form of late with Thistle in particular having lost just once in their last six games.
Killie striker Josh Magennis seems to have broken his wave of goalscoring form having gone four games without scoring.
But their fine 0-0 draw at Celtic Park last weekend will surely fill them with confidence when coming up against Glasgow’s other Scottish Premiership representatives.
Both of these sides have put the brakes on high flying Saint Johnstone recently while struggling to maintain that level against more out of form sides.
At Rugby Park Kilmarnock have lost most recently to Motherwell and Hamilton Accies. Thistle can look to just the one away win all season against the afore mentioned Perth Saints.
A top six place is only three points away for the Ayrshire side. A win for Thistle would see them pull away from Motherwell and Dundee Utd below them and could see them draw level with Scottish Cup winners, Inverness.
That means there is plenty at stake for both sides. It remains to be seen whether that encourages them to be adventurous or leads to caution.
With two former Partick Thistle players in their ranks, Conrad Balatoni and Kallum Higginbotham, I think the home side will be eager to get one over their rivals.
But with just one goal in their last three games scoring against a relatively meager Thistle defence won’t be that easy. Partick Thistle have conceded more than once in just two of their seven away league games.
While a draw has potential in this one the prices mean it is wiser to plump for a different option.

Kilmarnock v Partick Thistle Betting Preview Betting Odds
Kilmarnock are priced way too high for this match up in my opinion. They were available at 3.1(21/10) very briefly but that hasn’t dropped much to the 2/1 still available with Betway and 10Bet.
That’s a very tempting price to take on it’s own but given Thistle’s good form it is worth considering the Draw No Bet option. That is available at 2.1(11/10) with Boylesports, McBookie, Paddy Power and Betfair.
If you take it from the Asian Handicap market you will get 2.13 with McBookie for Kilmarnock +0.0 AH.
