Broadcast Live on BBC Scotland
The Highland Derby was an intriguing draw for this Scottish League Cup quarter-final and it’s good to see BBC Scotland choose this as their live broadcast.
The Staggies have been flying high in the league although they have stumbled recently with two defeats in their last three games.
One of those defeats was to Caley Thistle who have an excellent record in the derby since Ross County joined them in the Scottish Premiership.
That timeframe has seen thirteen match ups with County winning just two of them. The Caley Jags have won five times leaving six drawn games in total.
The home side are probably deserving favourites for the game given those stats but they also suggest draw backers might find some success in this fixture over time.
Personally I think it’s a tough game to call and a draw could be a good option given that Ross County have drawn three of their six away games already this season.
Inverness’ goalscoring difficulties have reemerged in the past two games and while County have been exceptional at home they have won just one away fixture the whole campaign.
So the WDW markets are probably best left alone although many will see value in the 3.1(21/10) quotes on County.

There are rumours of discontent with John Hughes in Inverness

The best price on ICT of 2.38(11/8) with bet365 is a little short for my liking. Had Ross County not had such a poor H2H record then the 3.1(21/10) from William Hill would have had a lot of appeal.
Both teams to score should have a chance given that both teams have scored in ten of the thirteen H2Hs I mentioned. It is very backable at a price of 1.91(10/11) with William Hill and drifting with most other firms.
One thing I have learned as a football bettor is that you have to know when to quit. However, you also need the courage of your convictions.
With that in mind I am going to have another go at Jackson Irvine to be first goalscorer. He is best priced with Coral at 20/1 (as low as I would be willing to go) while McBookie are at 19/1 but drifting.
He still hasn’t scored this season so backing him anytime at a best 7/1 with Coral and McBookie is less preferable.
