Hibernian v St Mirren Betting Tips And Predictions

Irn Bru Challenge Cup

Location: Easter Road

Date: 8th October 2016
Time: 15:00

St Mirren should be buoyed by their latest signing.

The chairman and the fans got the one they wanted. Despite some chatter about Billy Davies and Neil Warnock Jack Ross was always the most likely candidate. But he has one hell of a job on his hands to turn their form around.

The Buddies haven’t won in ninety minutes since a 3-0 win over Scotland’s lowest ranked senior side ten games ago. That’s a terrible indictment for any side but particularly for one as well resourced as St Mirren.

The Paisley Saints can boast some genuine quality in their ranks. They are bolstered by names that would trip off the tongue of any half interested Scottish football fan. Players like Rocco Quinn, John Sutton, Ryan Hardie, Kyle Hutton, Stevie Mallan, Gary Irvine. It’s a long list of quality players.

Jack Ross has the tools at his disposal. As a result I think he can start looking up the table. They are, after all, just one win from safety and a mini run of form from challenging for the playoffs. And there is a chance the new manager bounce could get them off to a flyer this weekend.

Meanwhile Hibs are in a poor bit of form themselves. Not many can claim to  seeing them drop off top spot in the table and vacate it for more than three weeks. Their early form made it look like the league would be a procession. Ayr Utd, Queen Of The South and Dundee Utd have put pay to that notion.

As a result Falkirk are hot on their heels and Queens are a point clear. Hence Hibernian should just chuck this cup to the kids to have a go at. They should. But that’s not saying they will. Although they might and if they do St Mirren have a real chance here.

Hibs are of course short favourites at 1.5 (1/2) with Coral but shortening across the board. St Mirren are available at 9.1 (81/10) with Marathon Bet. They are also best price for a draw at 5.1 (41/10).

Backing St Mirren with Draw No Bet insurance at 7.2 (31/5) with Marathon Bet has real potential particularly if team news is favourable. As does St Mirren +1 Asian Handicap at 2.3 (13/10) with bet365. That has stake back insurance should they lose by exactly one goal.

Both teams to score at even money with bwin is another bet with potential. It is preferred to the 1.7 (7/10) from bet365 for +2.5 goals.

Goals Stats

Both teams have scored in all but one of St Mirren's last nine games.

But in just four of Hibernian's last nine matches.

Head To Head Stats

Hibernian are unbeaten in five wining three of the last four.

St Mirren have avoided defeat in three from five at Easter Road
