Hearts v Celtic Betting Preview

This Hearts v Celtic betting preview is in some ways a case of missed opportunity.

Backing Celtic -1 Asian Handicap was available at a price of 2.12(28/25) this morning. I concentrated on getting previews for Tuesday night’s matches done and missed the price.

It is now best priced at 1.69 and at that price you would be as well just backing them to win at 1.57 with Coral. That is currently still available (at time of writing) but won’t be for long.

EDIT: The Price For Celtic -1AH Has Drifted Again Today (Wednesday)

I have taken it @ 1.95(19/20) with bet365 and am very happy with that price.

It’s a game I fully expect The Hoops to win despite the supposed turmoil within the camp. Their demolition of Dundee Utd on Sunday would suggest that all is not wrong at Celtic Park.

Of course their 5-0 win was helped by the hapless, perhaps hopeless, Dundee Utd defence but you still have to do the job and that they did.

Kris Commons looked and performed like a man with a point to prove and he should be a key figure again come Wednesday evening.

Hearts come in to this game having arrested a poor run of form with two good wins on the bounce.

The Jam Tarts one win in five stat from a few weeks ago has been replaced by three wins in five and no defeats. That includes a very credible 0-0 draw at Celtic Park the last time the teams met.

They have also conceded just one goal in that spell and that came against in-form Kilmarnock.

Backing Celtic on the handicaps could be fraught with danger given that form. The chances of The Tic mauling The Jambos like they did The Arabs is much more remote. Although if I had gotten 2.12 with stake back insurance it would have been crazy to refuse.

Instead I am left scraping around looking for value and where else would I turn but my favourite first goalscorers.

Mikael Lustig has looked likely this season and that's why he is included as one of the first goalscorer free football tips in this Hearts v Celtic betting preview from tynecastle in the scottish league cup

Lustig has been looking likely this season

The problem with backing goalscorers with Celtic is not really knowing who is going to play. Ronny Deila has changed his side around so much that anyone is in the running for a starting berth.

On this occasion I think he will go as close to full strength as possible. That should see Lustig and Bitton reinstated and the prices on both of them look appealing.

Mikael Lustig is 25/1 with McBookie and Coral and that is the kind of price I like to back him at. Bitton is 20/1 also with Coral and given his goalscoring form that price is very acceptable.

Dedryck Boyata scored his fourth goal of the season on Sunday although once again it was the second goal of the game. As long as he is being priced up at 30/1 with Betbright I will continue to back him.
