Irn Bru Challenge Cup

Location: Station Park

Date: 8th October 2016
Time: 15:00

Forfar's fine winning run halted last weekend.

They were going for their tenth win on the spin but faltered in the Angus derby.

TNS won their eleventh game on the spin last weekend. What a game we could have had in store with at least one of those records likely to broken.

To be fair it was always likely to be Forfar's. The Welsh champions are a quality side exhibited by their Champions League performances in recent years. They have beaten some minnows home and away and drew 0-0 with APOEL this season. No mean feat.

They also have a remarkable scoring record domestically. Forty-one goals in ten league games this season tells it's own story. The quality of player available to them also seems to grow season on season.

Former Motherwell players Steven Saunders and Wes Fletcher now ply their trade in Shropshire. They also have a New Zealand international up front in Greg Draper. He has scored eight times in ten league matches.

Hence any thoughts of a Forfar win look off the mark. Although you would have said that in the last round when they upset the apple cart with victory over Raith Rovers.  If they can get Josh Peters fit for this tie they might have reason to believe.

He has scored five goals in six league games and they certainly missed him last weekend. You could almost give them a chance if they are at full strength. But in reality all signs are pointing toward an away win. However, from a betting point of view, goals are certainly on the cards.

TNS are favourites at 1.68 (13/19) with Marathon Bet. Forfar are available at 5.4 (22/5) also with Marathon Bet. Boylesports are best price for the draw at 3/1.

Both teams to score is short at 1.57 (4/7) with Ladbrokes and Coral but it does look likely. On the goals markets +3.5 goals looks a good option at 2.38 (11/8) with McBookie.

There have been oodles of goals in both sides' matches so far this season and it looks set to continue on Saturday.

Goals Stats

Five of Forfar's seven home matches this season have seen +3.5 goals.

TNS have scored three or more goals on seven occasions this season.

Head To Head Stats
