This will be The Gers biggest test since Easter Road and The Bairns are looking confident.

The Falkirk Community Stadium looks likely to be sold out for this one and that’s no mean feat considering it’s live on the telly the Saturday before Christmas. It is one of the most eagerly anticipated games of the weekend for sure.

Fitba fans from across Scotland will tune in to this one with most neutrals supporting the underdog. Falkirk are rightly the underdog as this Rangers team should have enough about them to see off any team in the league, Hibs included.

But what was initially looking like a bit of a blip is now festering into a full blown dip in form. Away from home Rangers drew and lost in their last two games. Before that was an unconvincing, some might say fortunate, 0-1 away win at Saint Mirren.

The days of 1-5 away wins seem very far gone for Mark Warburton’s side. They are struggling to get amongst the goals as easily as they were with many sides catching up with their tactics.

With Falkirk having conceded just two goals at home in the league somebody is going to have to change it up for Rangers. The fans have been calling for a more direct style of play but it is doubtful whether Rangers have the personnel to apply that style.

Talk of January transfer signings looks optimistic with financial insecurity still hanging over Ibrox like a scythe. Warburton and Weir may have to play with the hand they’ve been dealt. With a thin squad that could lead to a nervy run in for the Rangers fans.

As intriguing as this game is, from a betting point of view it’s a bit of a minefield. I don’t mind admitting that I am struggling to find confidence in any bets I have looked at.

Some have caught my eye like Rangers to Win To Nil at 3.3 (23/10) with Coral. Like both teams to score NO at 2.65 (33/20) also with Coral. Or Falkirk +1 Asian Handicap tipping just above even money.

All of these look like decent bets and have the appearance of value but I cant find the confidence in any of them to pull the trigger. It looks like this game is best left to enjoying the spectacle and leaving the betting to more secure selections.
