Ladbrokes Scottish League 2

Location: Borough Briggs

Date: 16th April 2016

It’s hard to separate the best home form from the best away from.

Elgin City can lay claim to the best home form in Scottish League 2 with just one defeat in the league all season. But that home form has come under sterner examination of late with just one win in their last three games.

You could put their excellent home form down to the distances that most sides have to travel to get there. It will be the guts of a four hundred mile round trip for Queens Park on Saturday but they are a side who thrive on the road.

The Spiders have lost just three of their sixteen away league games and are unbeaten in the last ten. Their overall form is much better, too, with just three defeats in twenty-one games all told.

Elgin’s form has dropped off a cliff with just one victory in their last seven matches. They have drawn three blanks in their last five games and now look likely to be the team to miss out on the playoffs.

Queens Park look likely to be the more capable of grabbing something from this game. Annan are the only current top five side who have overcome them on their home patch and they have already escaped with a 0-0 draw the last time they visited Borough Briggs. That makes it ten head to head matches since Elgin have beaten Queens Park.

That was when Elgin were in fine fettle and looking odds on to win the league. With them in a much worse place there is a good chance Queens Park can head back down the road to Hampden with all three points.

Elgin City v Queens Park Betting Preview Best Betting Odds

Despite their excellent home record Elgin are too short for me to consider at 2.2 (6/5) with McBookie. Queens Park could be good value for the win at 3.1 (21/10) with McBookie while the draw, which has a chance, is available at 3.75 with Paddy Power and bet365.

Backing Queens Park with Draw No Bet insurance could prove profitable at 2.3 (13/10) with Ladbrokes.
