Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership

Celtic continue their inexorable march to complete domination of the Scottish Premiership.

The Hoops made short shrift of Hamilton’s challenge on Christmas Eve. Despite having Callum MacGregor sent off at 0-1 they finished comfortably in front.

It’s in some ways representative of their season so far. Nobody has come close to upsetting the run they are on. There have been a few wins by the odd goal. And of course Inverness somehow magicked a draw out of an absolute tanking.

But at no point has it looked like Celtic might lose. With the exception of the first game of the season away at Tynecastle. That’s been their toughest test domestically. Even then, the first game under a new manager. With nothing but a few UCL qualifiers under their belt and a solitary new signing in the starting lineup in the toughest fixture they could have had.

If they weren’t to be stopped then when are they to be stopped? Not at home to Ross County I dare say. Even though that is as daring as sticking my head out the window to check the weather. Will Celtic win? Is it raining in Glasgow? You will usually answer in the affirmative twice.

The challenge now is finding markets with the slightest hint of value. Now that is a greater challenge than picking a winner. But if the last two Celtic home games are a measure you should be going against the grain.

While everyone will be backing Celtic on the handicaps you should perhaps be looking to give The Staggies a positive one. While everyone will be backing overs you should be looking at the unders markets.

It’s a risky strategy because Celtic could turn it on and score five. But there have been less than 3.5 goals in all of Celtic’s last seven home games and all but three in fifteen, home and away.

Celtic are favourites at 1.17 (1/6) with Betway. Ross County are available at 20/1 with Betfair and Paddy Power while Marathon bet are best for a draw at 9.6 (43/5).

Backing Ross County with a +2 Asian Handicap is 2.25 (5/4) with Paddy Power. That has stake back insurance should they lose by exactly two goals.

Both teams to score is 2.25 (5/4) with BWin but holds little appeal. On the goals markets under 3.5 goals at 1.98 (49/50) with Marathon Bet looks the best bet. I have been tipping it for a while and it has been very successful to this point.

Although the time of year makes it even riskier than normal.
