Bala v Alloa does have a certain ring to it.

But that is probably the only thing that could raise a smile from a Wasps fan right now.

Jack Ross, the man that has turned their club right around, has left for pastures new. He simply couldn’t resist the lure of his old club, St Mirren, and the potential they represent.

He leaves in his wake a club record of consecutive wins and plenty of reasons for Alloa fans to be optimistic. All in all the side have performed very well this season.

Although recent form also leaves room for concern. They have won just once in their last five matches. After ten wins on the spin there is now a frailty about Alloa that Livi, Queens Park, Stennie and Airdrie can attest to.

With the main man at the helm now deserted post there is every reason to be worried about how the side reacts. And that’s not the only question about this game. What to make of Bala Town is anyone’s guess.

They are having a poor season by their standards in Wales sitting third from bottom. Having qualified for the European positions three times in the last four seasons that will be disappointing. But their home form remains very solid. Only AIK and TNS have won there this season.

They lost 0-3 to Crusaders in a preseason friendly but I am not sure how much you can take from that. It does look like Alloa have a very good chance of progression but it all depends on how they react to their own troubles.

Alloa are favourites at a best price of 1.98 (39/40) with Marathon Bet. Bala Town are available at 3.98 (119/40) with the same firm. McBookie are best price for the draw at 3.7 (27/10).

Both teams to score is very short at 1.57 (4/7) with Coral and has little appeal. The 2.6 (8/5) with Marathon Bet for both teams to score NO may be a better option.

The price of 1.65 (13/20) for +2.5 goals from Marathon Bet may be the most appealing bet of all. The last round of the Irn Bru Cup certainly was a goals fest.

Goals Stats

Just one of Bala Town's seven home games this season has seen both teams score.
