A week is such a long time in Scottish football.

For Rangers fans in the last week it must feel like a season’s worth of activity has passed under the bridge.

The Joey Barton shenanigans have drawn comment from all quarters. Not least from Barton himself. It raised questions about the manager and how the players would react. On Tuesday they reacted by beating Queen Of The South 5-0.

The breadth of the victory surprised me and no doubt many others. Queens are flying high in the Championship. They are certainly no mugs. But The Gers saw them off with Martyn Waghorn bagging a hattrick. His return from injury will be a major boost for Mark Warburton.

Meanwhile Aberdeen looked something near their best in a win at Dundee last weekend. The returning Johnny Hayes was instrumental in the goal that turned the tie in their favour. But they appear to have lost him again after he pulled up in their Betfred Cup quarter final warm up. Without him they looked bang average.

Credit must go to St Johnstone who defended valiantly and battled hard in midfield. Although The Dons looked to be distinctly lacking in creativity. Particularly in the midfield with Graeme Shinnie a determined but wasted resource. His natural position at left back is inadequately covered by Considine who offers little or nothing going forward.

As a result Aberdeen have no support from the full backs if Shay Logan can be pinned back. On Sunday he will be up against Barry McKay and Lee Wallace. Getting pinned back may be the least of his concerns.

Rangers have been drifting in the betting all week. That could see another about turn after Aberdeen’s performance. Aberdeen will need to up their performance to keep pace. And how they could do with Johnny Hayes.

Aberdeen v Rangers Betting Tips And Predictions – Best Betting Odds

Rangers are slight favourites at 2.7 (17/10) with Coral but I expect that to fall. Aberdeen are available at 2.82 (20/11) with Marathon Bet. 188Bet are best price for the draw at 3.4 (12/5).

Draw finders should certainly look to this game although team news will be important. If Johnny Hayes plays his pace and direct running will terrify the Rangers defence.

Draw No Bet options could work for either side. Rangers are 1.95 (19/20) DNB with Coral. While Aberdeen are evens with Marathon Bet.

But you should draw your attention to the goals markets for this game. Both teams to score is available at 1.87 (6/7) and drifting. Coral price +2.5 goals at 2.15 (23/20) and that has real potential. It is also drifting so may be worth holding out for an increase.
