Stirling Albion v East Fife Betting Preview
Date: 3rd November
The Scottish Cup 2nd Round replay between The Binos and The Fifers has a big carrot dangling at the end of it.
The Scottish Cup 3rd round draw has paired the winner of this tie at home to Cumbernauld Colts. That’s a very winnable tie for both teams and should see them in the 4th round draw with the big guns and the potential of a really big pay day.
The sides will know each other well having played twice already in the last month. Both of those games were in the league and both were at East Fife. Both games ended in a draw.
There must be a winner in tonight’s match if it takes extra-time and penalties to reach it.
A cursory glance at the league table would point to East Fife as the likely winners but that doesn’t tell the whole story.
Gary Naysmith’s side have won just two of their last eight games. They are suddenly six points behind league leaders Annan Athletic having looked like real contenders just a few weeks ago.
The fact that they have failed to beat Albion twice at home recently suggests to me that the Binos have their number.
They have turned a very poor start to the season around by becoming difficult to beat. With just two losses in eight matches they have ground their way off the foot of the table.
They are short of goals for sure but so long as you’re not conceding you’re always in with a chance of winning, right?
Albion are missing a few players after two red cards in recent matches with Willie Robertson and Ross Smith the culprits. Craig Beattie remains on the injury list following his summer transfer having still played just three games.
Stirling Albion v East Fife Betting Preview Betting Odds
For the original match up in this round of the cup I suggested backing Albion +1 goal and that worked out brilliantly. That option is not an option this time around as home advantage has shortened their odds.
Goals look unlikely with both sides fond of low scoring matches. Backing under three goals is best priced at 1.95(19/20) with McBookie.
With the game looking tough to call the value certainly seems to be with an Albion win and less than three goals. You can back Albion to WIN TO NIL at 5/1 with McBookie or to win and under 2.5 goals at 6.5(11/2) with Boylesports.
It being a game I wouldn’t feel comfortable investing heavily in I am electing to plump for small stakes on the correct score markets. A 1-0 home win pays 10/1 with 888Sport and 2-0 pays 17/1 with McBookie.
