Saint Mirren v Livingston betting preview
Location: Paisley 2021 Stadium
Date: 26th December 2015.
St Mirren haven’t won a home league game all season, so why on earth am I backing them to do that on Saturday?
That’s a question I have wrestled with all day and the final conclusion is that this could be the day the monkey and the back are parted.
I have been championing The Buddies all season and, to my chagrin, I have been championing Ian Murray all season. I still find their position in eighth place hard to fathom but Alex Rae might turn them around quickly with Murray vacating the managers’ seat.
He has started well with a 0-2 win away to Alloa last weekend. This week he faces another club with no manger (at time of writing) in Livingston.
I was shocked at the news that Livi had sacked Mark Burchill after a 1-1 draw at home to Dumbarton. For me Burchill had done an excellent job in the little over a year he was in situ.
He has had to contend with numerous difficulties like a five point deduction, two transfer embargoes and a reported 40% cut in the player budget. Despite those issues he kept them up and won the Petrofac Training Cup.
That should have been enough to see him given a little time in my opinion. Instead Livi are looking for their 21st manager in just ten years. This instability doesn’t look good to me and could affect the players confidence heading in to Saturday.
St Mirren v Livingston Betting Preview Betting Odds
Ladbrokes are best priced for the home win at 2.15 (23/20) and for me that is a price worth taking.
There is one caveat, though. Rumours have emerged that Danny Lennon may be in the running for the managers position at Livingston. If that happens before Saturday it could be worth reconsidering.
Without a new manager bounce I am very happy to take St Mirren at odds against and of course Lennon would need to be appointed by Thursday at the latest to have an affect before Saturday.
