St Johnstone v Aberdeen Betting Preview

St Johnstone have been the measure of consistency over the last two seasons.
Two fourth place finishes in a row is an excellent return for Tommy Wright’s Perth Saints. And I will have surprised many by suggesting they could finish ahead of Hearts in my Scottish Premiership Ante Post Betting Preview.
They should be delighted to be meeting Aberdeen just a few days after their Europa League exertions, too. A hangover for The Dons seems inevitable given the controversy they encountered. And St Johnstone have exhibited some excellent form in the League Cup.
All but one of their games ended in victory and the 1-1 draw with Brechin saw them rest all of their most potent attackers. At home they were impressive scoring seven goals in two games and conceding none. The 3-0 win over Falkirk being particularly noteworthy.
But they must now face an Aberdeen side who look to have strengthened considerably from last season. Extra attacking options in Jayden Stockley and Miles Storey will take the pressure off Adam Rooney. Although they will have to contend without Johnny Hayes for a few weeks at least.
And there are still question marks over them defensively. Last seasons away form saw them concede in all but three of their last fifteen away league matches. They included a 3-0 loss here at the tail end of the season.
The head to head stats are particularly favourable for St Johnstone who have scored in each of the last five meetings here. They have also scored six goals in the last two although one of those ended in a 3-4 defeat.
St Johnstone v Aberdeen Betting Preview Best Betting Odds
The bookies certainly priced this game wrong when the markets first opened. Aberdeen were tipping at odds on but have drifted to 2.25 (5/4) with Betfair. St Johnstone are available at a price of 3.6 (13/5) with Betfred. The draw is 3.5 (5/2) with Betfair.
Backing St Johnstone with Draw No Bet insurance can be considered at 2.6 (8/5) with 888Sport. Betfair will pay 3.4 (12/5) for The Saints to score +1.5 team goals and that is also worthy of consideration.
Both teams to score could also have a very good chance at 1.95 (19/20) with bet365. Marathon Bet are offering 2.25 (5/4) for +2.5 goals and that looks a tempting price. Perhaps even too tempting to refuse.
