St Johnstone v Aberdeen Betting Preview

Is the title chase over and, more importantly, do Aberdeen believe it?
That could be the determining factor in the outcome of this game. Certainly St Johnstone have nothing left to play for with European ambitions going South after Celtic bowed out of the Scottish Cup on Sunday.
That leaves nothing but places to play for and how much that can really encourage a player to give that extra five percent is debatable. If The Dons are fired up enough to try and close the gap to Celtic to five points with four to play it could be enough to see them take a grip of this game.
They will have to overcome a Saints side who have a very decent record in the head to head matches. The last five games have seen two wins apiece with a 1-1 draw last time out at Pittodrie. That was in a game Aberdeen were expected to win comfortably and should have seen out before conceding an eighty-eighth minute equaliser.
It was almost much worse the time before when they almost blew a 1-4 lead with just thirteen minutes remaining. The Perth Saints brought it back to 3-4 beating the goals total from the preceding game to that one, a 1-5 win for the Saints at Pittodrie.
This fixture has certainly been goal heavy this season and another few goals wouldn’t be a surprise. St Johnstone have been a little short of goals of late but barely two games ago they looked back to their best with a 0-3 win at Tynecastle.
Aberdeen have been amongst the goals for some time, too. All but one of their last eight Premiership away matches have seen +2.5 goals and all but two of their last ten home and away. Odds against for goals on Friday looks quite hard to turn down.

The Dons are shortening favourites with Skybet the last remaining bookie at even money. St Johnstone can be backed at a high of 4.35 (57/17) with Marathon Bet while the draw is available at 3.6 (13/5) with McBookie.
Both teams to score looks to have a good chance at a best 1.95 (19/20) with McBookie, Coral and Betfair. The price of 2.1 (11/10) for +2.5 goals from Coral, Paddy Power and McBookie has a little more appeal.
Adam Rooney is rumoured to be back in contention but he is unlikely to dislodge Simon Church who could be good value to score anytime at 2.88 (15/8) with McBookie.
