Scottish Final Day Goals Analysis
It’s the last weekend of the season in the Scottish lower leagues and traditionally, in leagues the world over, these weekends are looked upon as goal fests. As such punters across the land will be looking to land big scores over the coming days.
Many will have a pop at all the games in each of the divisions going over 2.5 goals and that can be hard to argue with but it is perhaps worth showing a little prudence, particularly in League 2 where there are still some important fixtures to be played out.
Scottish Championship Final Day Goals Analysis
The Scottish Championship could be a good place to find goals. Last season all but one of the five games saw +2.5 goals. The last time all five games saw +2.5 goals was in 2011, a year that saw this seasons League Cup champions and Premiership top six finishers avoid relegation on the final day.
The last five season’s final day matches have been particularly fruitful with twenty from twenty-five matches seeing three or more goals. Some of them were particularly goal worthy, Hamilton’s 10-2 victory over Morton a particular stand out.
For all five games to be goal gluts will pay better than 12/1 with Marathon Bet this time around.
Scottish League 1 Final Day Goals Analysis
All but one team have averaged more than 2.5 goals per game in League 1 this season. Albion Rovers are the only side not to oblige but with their final game against Stenhousemuir a must win for both sides it should hit the mark this weekend.
All of last seasons games saw three or more goals and better than that, they all saw four or more goals so a goal glut could happen again. Historically the portents are not so good with only eighteen from twenty-five games seeing three or more goals over the last five seasons.
Amazingly every single game in League 1 still means something with at least one of the teams trying to make or avoid the playoffs. Thats should make for lots of entertainment and League 1 could be the place to find a five-fold goals bet on Saturday.
The best price you will get on the five fold is a little over 19/2 from Marathon Bet.
Scottish League 2 Final Day Goals Analysis
Just one team in League 2 haven’t averaged more than 2.5 goals per game this season. Queens Park travel to Annan this weekend in a game that Annan must win to make the playoffs (realistically). With Annan topping the goal creation charts with more than 3.5 goals per game we could see another few in that one.
Historically this division has been the least obliging for final day goals over the last five seasons. Just sixteen of the twenty-five final day matches have seen three or more goals and there are probably a few to avoid again this season.
The games at Clyde, Elgin and Montrose could all be misfires and may be best avoided. However, if you do fancy having a pop at all five teams you will get better than 12/1 from Marathon Bet for the five-fold and that could be worth a small interest.
Scottish Final Day Goals Preview
As mentioned above the place for all games to go overs is League 1. In the Championship it may be wise to avoid Falkirk and Livingston while League 2 might just provide a double to keep us interested.
