It’s Scottish Cup final weekend and this year’s showpiece will be contested by two teams from Scotland’s second tier. They may have plied their trade in the Championship this season but Rangers and Hibernian are no second rate clubs.
Hampden park is sold out with even former Hibs fans favourite Derek Riordan having to make a social media plea for a ticket in the Hibs end.
Whatever happens on Saturday we will see the sixth different Scottish Cup winner since 2010.
If you think Hibs can do it in 90 minutes Marathon Bet are best price at 4.4 (17/5) but you would be a braver punter than me taking on Hibs in this one.
These teams know each other inside out by now having faced each other five times already this season alone. And one key facet to all but one of those games was a real glut of goals.
There have been twenty three goals in the five head to head matches so far and there is every chance that Saturday’s game will follow suit.
Both sides have been cavalier in their approach to games this season and there will be plenty of attacking talent on show. Martin Waghorn is reportedly ready to start his first game since a lengthy injury and Hibernian have a decision to make between James Keatings and Jason Cummings
Conventional wisdom suggests that cup finals are low scoring affairs but five of the last six Scottish Cup finals have seen at least three goals.
Nobody remembers who finished second in cup finals while legendary status awaits the winners of this years competition. Whichever side eventually lifts the trophy I am betting on them needing at least two goals to do so.
Marathon Bet price up +2.5 total goals at 1.92 (23/25) and that price is more than enough for me to get involved.
