Ross County v Celtic Betting Preview
Location: Global Energy Stadium
Date: 8th November 2015.
I must admit to being a little bit torn about what to do with this Ross County v Celtic betting preview.
The Hoops have an excellent bounce back record after defeats. It is a record I have capitalised on many times after domestic and European defeats.
They hammered Dundee Utd 5-0 after the last defeat to Molde. The last time Celtic lost two games in a row was back in August 2014 at the very start of Ronny Deila’s reign.
But something doesn’t sit right with this trip to Dingwall. The latest European defeat is going to be hard to shake off tinged as it was by lack of effort and the apparent downing of tools by the players.
Bitton and Rogic picked up knocks last night but had to play on as Celtic had already lost Simunovic, Brown and Commons. There is every chance all of them will be absent on Sunday.
Not to mention the confidence shattering sub-on sub-off incident for Tyler Blackett. I would be surprised if he can come back from that one. Charlie Mulgrew is also a long-term absentee.
Celtic’s only bright spot was Kieran Tierney but the youngster may not be fit to start on Sunday either. Akin to a young, gangly Andy Murray he appears to yet lack the physical resolve to compete at the top for two games running.
That will come with time and at least they have an able deputy in Emilio Izaguirre waiting in the wings.
Ronny Deila can look to a dip in The Staggies form for inspiration. Having gone on a run of ten games with one defeat they have now lost three of their last five games.
The kick off time is also (mercifully for Celtic fans) scheduled for 15:30 rather than the usual midday for televised games. That gives him a few extra precious hours to solidify his charges.
He’ll need every minute he can get. Celtic’s confidence looked smashed by the end of Thursday’s match.
Jim McIntyre will have no such worries. He’ll be able to point to exactly that to get his players fired up for this one. The potential for a big scalp is waiting for them and that’s as big a prize as you can win in Scottish football.
He knows their home form could carry them through here with six victories in eight games at Dingwall. The most recent of which was a 2-0 going on 5-0 beating of Aberdeen.
In the County Premiership era Celtic have only beaten the home side by more than one goal in two out of six matches.
So a big Celtic victory here just doesn’t look likely to be on the cards in my opinion.
Ross County v Celtic Betting Preview Betting Odds
Ross County are not short of goals in their side with Liam Boyce their main goalscoring threat with seven league goals this season.
There is every chance that they can trouble Celtic on Sunday afternoon and goals do look likely. Both teams to score is priced at 1.87(20/23) with Boylesports and Coral and that looks worthy of investing.
Also tempting is backing Ross County +1 Asian Handicap at 2.67(67/40) with bet365. That bet would win so long as they avoid defeat with stake back insurance if they lose by the odd goal.
Given the reasoning above backing Celtic with a handicap looks to be fraught with danger.
