By the time you’re reading this you may well know if Celtic won against Dundee Utd on Friday night.
That would leave The Dons six points behind in the title race so a Ross County win here would leave them that many points behind with a game more played. If Aberdeen have any pretence of challenging this could be looked upon as a key game and a must win.
Just as worrying a loss could see Hearts close the gap to second place to a mere three points. That relies on them overcoming Motherwell at Tynecastle on Saturday but given their good form they are odds on favourites to do just that.
Aberdeen suffered two big blows in the last week, too. Defeat to Hearts means no more cup games to look forward to and impressive young keeper Danny Ward was recalled by Liverpool. Scott Brown is likely to regain his place in goals for Sunday afternoon’s encounter.
As if that wasn’t enough for Derek McInnes to worry about their record in Dingwall is poor. They have won just once here in five attempts, drawing once and losing the other three. With no wins in their last three games and matches with Celtic and away to St Johnstone and Inverness on the horizon a defeat here could dent Aberdeen’s season.
The Staggies, on the face of it, have hit a little slump in form themselves but that’s largely down to poor away performances. At home they have an impressive record winning ten of their fourteen games in all competitions. Only Celtic, Inverness, St Johnstone and Hearts have left Dingwall with three points.
A recent injury crisis has eased although they will be missing their top scorer Liam Boyce. His immediate replacement, Brian Graham, scored twice in a rare start here the last time Aberdeen visited. They left, as they so often do from Dingwall, with their tail between their legs.
Ross County v Aberdeen Betting Preview Betting Odds
You would need to do some serious convincing to get me to part with my cash for an Aberdeen win at a best 2.25 (5/4) with Betfair. Ross County are best priced for the win at 3.5 (5/2) with bet365 and the draw is priced at 3.5 (5/2) with Betfair and McBookie.
You can back the home side to win with Draw No Bet insurance at 2.4 (7/5) with McBookie but that seems short considering they haven’t drawn at home in the league for thirty-three games.
Goals should be the way to go here with twenty-five goals in The Staggies last five home games in the Scottish Premiership. Only Celtic have scored more home goals than Ross County in the league and it looks likely that the winner of this game will have to score twice to gain the three points.
Both teams to score is backable at 1.85 (17/20) with McBookie and for there to be +2.5 total goals you will get 2.05 (21/20) with bet365. That looks to have a chance even if Aberdeen’s form would suggest otherwise. It is a bet I would look to lay off if a few goals are scored early enough.
