Raith Rovers v Rangers betting preview
Location: Starks Park
Date: 2nd February 2016
By the end of this evening’s games Rangers could have effectively wrapped up the Scottish Championship.
They are eight points clear and a victory in Kirkcaldy coupled with Hibs failure to beat Morton in Greenock would see them at least ten ahead. That would be too much for Hibs to claw back even with a game in hand of the title favourites.
But I need to make something very clear to those looking for a bet. I won’t be betting on anything in Scotland tonight because the weather is just too unpredictable. Storm Henry looks to have blown himself out, for the most part, but there is still enough wind around to make me cautious.
That being said, a Rangers victory is always on the cards and with Michael O Halloran finally signing on the dotted line the Rangers squad now looks to have some depth to it. I have questioned the strength of the squad from the start of the season but four January additions have eased the concerns of most Rangers fans.
They still look a midfielder and a defender short of the ideal but with the run in facing them they should have enough to contend with a Hibs challenge. Tonight they are against a Raith Rovers side who have lost the protection of their excellent home record.
They haven’t won in their last six home matches losing four, including a poor 0-1 defeat to bottom side, Alloa. It’s a long way from the seven wins on the spin they started the season with. Their main business in the transfer window was signing Harry Panayiotou from Leicester City on loan but how he will perform is anyone’s guess.
Raith Rovers v Rangers Betting Preview Betting Odds
Rangers are hot favourites at a best 1.33 (1/3) with Skybet, Paddy Power and Coral. The home side can be backed at a high of 9/1 with Betfair while the draw is best priced with McBookie at 5.75 (19/4).
More than two goals in the game pays 1.53 (8/15) with Coral while both teams to score is 1.91 (10/11) with Coral. Considering Raith have failed to score in their last three at home and last four in total that doesn’t really appeal. Rangers to Win To Nil is available at 2.38 (11/8) with Skybet.
