Raith Rovers v Falkirk Betting Tips And Predictions
Ladbrokes Scottish Championship
Location: Starks Park
Date: 7th December 2017
Festive cheer was in short supply as both these sides endured a miserable month of December.
Falkirk recorded the only win for either side in eight matches combined. They beat St. Mirren 3-1 back on the 3rd December. Since then it’s two draws and two losses for the Bairns as they have dropped to fourth in the table.
Draws are a feature in an ultra competitive division, and Raith Rovers have five from their last seven matches. Gary Locke’s side last won a match in October. Despite this they now sit just two pints behind Falkirk, with a game in hand. They have the chance at home on Saturday to leapfrog the Bairns into fourth position and a play-off place.
Rovers have only lost twice at Starks Park this season, to Dunfermline, and on Falkirk’s previous visit. They have held both the league leaders Hibs, and second placed Dundee United to draws.
Peter Houston’s Falkirk, meanwhile, have struggled somewhat on their travels this season, picking up just two wins. They will take confidence from the fact that one of these was against Rovers at Starks Park.
The Bairns were widely expected to be the most credible threat to the division’s big boys Hibs and Dundee United. They have lost ground recently however, and are in danger of slipping out of the play-off places should they lose on Saturday.
A victory would put either side in a very strong position. For the home team, they would go a point above Falkirk, and retain their game in hand. For the visitors, they would stretch their advantage over Raith Rovers to five points. This secures that play-off position for the time being, as even with that game in hand, Rovers couldn’t overtake them.
All to play for then as the Championship season really hots up.
RAITH ROVERS V FALKIRK BETTING TIPS AND PREDICTIONS BEST BETTING ODDS
Visitors Falkirk are the bookies’ favourite to win, at 2.60 (8/5) with Paddy Power. Raith Rovers are 2.88 (15/8) with McBookie. The stalemate can be backed at 3.40 (12/5) with bet365 and Marathon Bet.
BTTS is 1.80 (4/5) with bet365 and others, and is normally backable in this fixture. However, Raith have scored just three goals in eight matches since a 4-2 win away to Falkirk. BTTS No looks better value at 2.10 (11/10) with McBookie.
With Rovers’ struggles in front of goal it’s no surprise that Under 2.5 goals is just 1.81 (81/100) with Marathon Bet. With Over 2.5 at 2.11 (111/100) with the same firm this is not where I’ll be looking for value on this occasion.
A curious little stat is that Falkirk have scored two goals in each of their last five meetings against Raith Rovers. The Bairns to score exactly 2 goals again is available at 4.00 (3/1) with bwin and has to be worth a punt.
Raith Rovers have scored just twice in their last five home matches, drawing a blank on three occasions.
Over two thirds of Falkirk’s league matches this season have seen both teams score, including each of the last five.
Falkirk have scored in all but two of their league matches this season, only Dundee United and Queen of the South have kept the Bairns out.
Head To Head Stats
