Partick Thistle v Celtic Betting Preview
Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership.
Date: 9th August 2015.
Celtic get to take their mind off the UEFA Champions League for what might seem like a long time given that they are going to squeeze four SPFL Scottish Premiership games into the timeframe.
But it is a measly ten days away and by the time the home game against Inverness that precedes it comes around I would suggest some squad rotation might come into play.
Before then there are two more Scottish Premiership matches to contend with, the first of which is a not so daunting trip across the city for the Glasgow derby against Partick Thistle.
Thistle are likely to be one of the teams battling the drop this season and a 0-0 draw away to Hamilton on week 1 hasn’t changed many minds on that score.
They did have Frederic Frans sent off after 25 minutes but had to rely heavily on their goalkeeper Tomas Cerny to escape from Hamilton with a point.
With the champions coming to town there isn’t much the Thistle fans can look to for inspiration. The last time they beat Celtic it was a different century and they’ve only managed one goal in the last six meetings.
It’s actually 18 games since Thistle managed even a point against Celtic so with those kind of stats you can see why Celtic have value even as short as 1.4(2/5).
Celtic also covered the handicap in 10 of those 18 games so again there is a little value in the price of 2.04(26/25) with McBookie for Celtic -1.5 Asian Handicap.
The question which needs to be asked is how many of those victories came after energy sapping UCL qualifiers away in the heat of Azerbaijan, the answer to which is of course none.

Backing Celtic -1.5 Asian Handicap is more than sufficient at the prices and with Thistle historically toothless against them a Win To Nil at 2.2(6/5) with Boylesports has plenty of appeal.
In the first goalscorer markets sheer bloody mindedness means we need to stick with Mikael Lustig but at a price of 25/1 with most firms including McBookie and Betfair he is worth having another pop at.
New defensive signing, Dedryck Boyata, has 2 goals to his credit already and with Coral offering 28/1 on the Belgian he is also worth having a pop at.
