Partick Thistle v Celtic Betting Preview

Partick Thistle could end up having a major bearing on the result of this year’s title race.
On Tuesday night it looked like they had slammed the door shut on Aberdeen before two quick goals got them back into it. They can now do Aberdeen a big favour by at least grabbing a point against Celtic.
The Jags have proven themselves at this level and must feel genuinely aggrieved not to have taken something from their midweek game. With St Johnstone winning on Wednesday night they may now have passed up on their top six opportunity but they can be happy with their effort, at least.
There is not much about this Celtic side’s form that would say they have no chance of achieving something from this game. Sure, Celtic should win and sure I will be backing them to do just that in some respects but discounting Thistle entirely would be somewhat foolish.
They have the fourth best defensive record in the division and The Hoops will need to be firing on all cylinders to break them down. But in truth, as much as Thistle are improving, the head to head stats say something that is hard to ignore.
Celtic have won the last nineteen meetings between the sides and Thistle have managed a single goal in the last eight. With the Jags goal scoring capabilities being the main thing holding them back this one really should take a similar path.
There is also the fact that Celtic have been quick starters on the road to consider. They have been winning at half-time in nine of their thirteen away matches this season with only Hearts, Inverness and Aberdeen keeping them at bay since their first away trip to Kilmarnock.
Partick Thistle v Celtic Betting Preview Betting Odds
Celtic are of course strong favourites at a best 1.4 (2/5) with Skybet and Ladbrokes. Thistle can be backed at a high of 8/1 with Coral and McBookie while the draw is best priced at 5.2 (21/5) with McBookie.
Given that Celtic have conceded plenty on the road both teams to score should tempt at 2.08 (27/25) with 888Sport. Three or more goals has limited appeal at the 1.75 (3/4) with Marathon Bet.
The bet to be on for Celtic away from home is undoubtedly in the half-time/full-time market if you are getting even money or thereabouts. On this occasion Skybet and Coral offer 2.1 (11/10) and at that price it should show a positive return over the season.
