Partick Thistle v Aberdeen Betting Preview
Date: 8th March 2016
This game was originally scheduled for the 19th February and not much has changed since then.
Thistle have won two and lost two while Aberdeen have won one and drawn one. The most notable incident was Adam Rooney’s injury, which added to Johnny Hayes’ injury the week before the original fixture does leave Aberdeen a little short creatively.
Simon Church has stepped into the Rooney shaped hole and to be fair to him he has stepped up to the mark. Two goals in two games is all you can ask off any striker and Church certainly seems to have a poacher’s instinct.
But as a team The Dons have scored no more than the goals that Church has provided and that must be a worry for Derek McInnes. Particularly when you are heading to a side who make it very difficult for other teams to score.
The Jags have the fourth tightest defence in the league with only Aberdeen, Hearts and Celtic conceding less goals. Their problem has always been scoring enough of their own to capitalise on other team’s weaknesses.
They kept Aberdeen scoreless the last time the teams met at Pittodrie with the 0-0 draw becoming the fifth game in a row where they failed to score against them. If they can turn that statistic around on Tuesday they should have a good chance of getting something and a win would take them into the top six.
Aberdeen are always a tough nut to crack though and they usually don’t slip up when they have the chance to apply pressure to Celtic’s lead. A win for them would close the gap at the top to one point and it’s an opportunity they really shouldn’t pass up.
Partick Thistle v Aberdeen Betting Preview Betting Odds
Aberdeen have lengthened to 2.05 (21/20) with Stanjames and that’s a price that could be considered. Thistle are best priced at 4.1 (31/10) with Marathon Bet while the draw has been popular at 3.6 (13/5) with 888Sport.
Under 2.5 total goals looks likely but has been backed right in to a best 1.7 (7/10) with Marathon Bet. If you fancy taking a chance on +2.5 goals you can get 2.25 (5/4) with Paddy, Power, Ladbrokes and bet365. Both teams to score looks unlikely even at a price of 2.17 (7/6) with 888Sport.
If Aberdeen are to win this game they are likely to do so by a small margin and a price of 3.75 (11/4) with Skybet for a one goal win is certainly tempting. As is the 3.25 (9/4) with Skybet for Aberdeen to Win To Nil.
Alternatively you could try a small stake on the correct score bet of 0-1 at 6/1 with McBookie.
