Motherwell v Inverness Betting Preview
William Hill Scottish Cup 5th Round
Location: Fir Park
Date: 6th February 2016
Motherwell and Inverness should both have enough about them to steer clear of relegation which makes this game almost season defining.
For The Caley Jags it’s another battle to maintain their hard won title from last season. They made hard work of it in the previous round taking a replay to see off League 2 Stirling Albion and will likely find the going tough again at Motherwell.
They have been going about their business well without being spectacular and have found themselves back up at the right end of the split. A solitary defeat in their last nine matches has seen them capitalise on the mixed form of the teams round about them.
The Steelmen are one of those sides whose form has been hard to pin down. Just as a run of six games without defeat, including a 1-2 win at Celtic Park, looked like catapulting them up the table it all fell apart again. The 6-0 loss at Tynecastle that followed must have had Mark McGhee recalling the 9-0 trouncing by Celtic that all but did for him as manager of Aberdeen.
Since then they have lost at home to Ross County and two last minute goals cost them at least three points away to Dundee and Partick Thistle. You can expect deadline day loan signing Morgaro Gomis to feature from now on in an attempt to shore up their defensive frailties.
Defensive frailties are an issue for both sides with just four clean sheets apiece in the league all season. There have been three or more goals in six of the last seven games at Fir Park while Caley Thistle have seen three or more in five from seven on the road. At home Motherwell have averaged 2.91 goals per game while away from home Inverness have averaged 3.45 goals, which makes the prices for goals in this game all the more surprising.

Picking a winner in this game won’t be easy and the bookies have them close with Motherwell a best 2.6 (8/5) with McBookie and ICT a best 2.88 (15/8) also with McBookie. The draw is available to back at 3.5 with bet365.
Both teams to score looks to have a good chance here and at 1.95 (19/20) with bet365 and Coral it is very tempting. It’s a toss up between that and +2.5 total goals at 2.2 (6/5) with McBookie, Coral, William Hill and Betfair.
With Motherwell scoring at least twice in five of their last six home games +2.5 goals should have a chance so I am going to lean towards that one.
