Hibs have run into injury problems at the wrong time as the battle at the top of the Scottish Championship intensifies.
Their next four games during the busy Christmas period are against the other four sides in the top five.
Neil Lennon must be wishing he could call on John McGinn and Fraser Fyvie during this period. Not to mention Dylan McGeouch who suffered another injury last week and looks likely to miss Saturday’s game. It leaves them very short in midfield once more.
That didn’t cost them last week in an eventual 2-0 win at home to Dumbarton. But that win was little more than expected. A trip to Cappielow to play an inform Morton side is a very different matter.
The Ton have surprised everyone this season with the standard of their performances despite losing last weekend for the first time in eight games. They have had some notable scalps along the way, too.
They reached the League Cup semi-final beating two Premiership sides. Many considered them unlucky in eventually succumbing to Aberdeen. Queen Of The South took a 0-5 beating off The Ton and they got one over on St Mirren for the first time in a gazzilion years.
Nobody has beaten them on home turf this season either. In ten matches they have won seven times while drawing with Falkirk, Dundee Utd and Dumbarton. Hibs are the only side in the top five yet to try and get something back up the road from Greenock. It will be a tough ask.
Although The Hibees backline has conceded a mere eight goals in sixteen league games. That’s a rock solid base and it’s hard to imagine them getting beaten. Especially as Morton are missing Jai Quitongo, a revelation up front for them this season.
But considering nobody else has managed to turnover The Ton on home turf it’s also hard to have confidence in an away win.
MORTON V HIBERNIAN BETTING TIPS AND PREDICTIONS BEST BETTING ODDS
A draw could be worth considering on the WDW markets. A Quitongo less Morton holds less appeal despite the apparent value on the home side.
Both teams have scored in 2 of Morton's last 5 games and just 1 of Hibs'.
In 10 away matches this season Hibs have seen both teams score twice. 3 have seen +2.5 goals.
Head To Head Stats
Hibs won the first meeting of the season 4-0 at home.
Both teams to score has failed to come in for five head to head matches.
