Kilmarnock v St Johnstone Betting Preview
Location: Rugby Park
Date: 9th April 2016
A point will do for St Johnstone to realise their top six ambitions and they have a great chance of getting it.
Lee Clarke has seen his Kilmarnock side score the grand sum of one goal since he took charge six games ago. They have garnered just two points in that time and things will need to pick up drastically if they are to avoid relegation.
St Johnstone have been the most inconsistent side in the league this season and after going on a run of one win in thirteen games it’s remarkable that fourth place is still within their grasp. Thats testament to how good they can be on their day and recently they have started to rekindle that form.
But that all came crashing down again last weekend with a 0-1 defeat to Dundee Utd following their remarkable 0-3 win away to Hearts. While the Perth Saints fans will still be dreaming of fourth and the potential of another shot at European football I expect Tommy Wright to be much more pragmatic.
The top six is the main aim and if grinding out a draw here is the best way to achieve it then so be it. Particularly as they are thin on the ground with injuries to important players looking like having a big impact on selection. Killie have also been getting the better of this fixture with two wins in the three head to head matches this season.
Like all the other games involving the top six conundrum much can change in play and it is therefore difficult to assert what will happen before the action. But the likelihood here is that goals will be few and far between unless St Johnstone end up having to throw caution to the wind to achieve their top six goal.
Kilmarnock v St Johnstone Betting Preview Best Betting Odds
St Johnstone are the bookies favourites at a best 2.5 (6/4) with Betfred but it’s a price I have little faith in. Kilmarnock can be backed at a high of 3.12 (36/17) with Marathon Bet while the draw is best priced at 3.6 (13/5) with 888Sport.
Both teams to score has absolutely zero appeal at a best 1.83 (5/6) with McBookie. The even money on the alternative outcome looks much better but with the uncertainty surrounding inplay action it is probably best left alone.
You can get 2.05 (21/20) for +2.5 goals with bet365 but that looks unlikely on the face of it.
