Kilmarnock v Ross County Betting Preview
Location: Rugby Park
Date: 1st March 2016
The real danger for Killie is that they stop looking at the teams above them and start looking over their shoulders.
It’s still hard to fathom but a win over Ross County could take them to within four points of the top six and just five points behind The Staggies in fifth. That is where they should be looking but it’s hard when Dundee Utd have closed to gap below them to eight points with a game in hand.
Lee Clarke must be wondering when he is going to pick up his first win. So far he is yet to see his team score with a 0-0 home draw with Dundee and Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Hearts on his watch. In fairness they are not the easiest games to face and if accounts are to be believed they performed relatively well in both games.
But things are about to get a hell of a lot harder for Kilmarnock. After Ross County they have Aberdeen and Celtic before a trip to the always difficult Partick Thistle. Points here and in the final game before the split at home to St Johnstone must be the target.
Managers and players will always say they are taking one game at a time but it would be foolhardy not to put a lot of import on this game knowing what’s just around the bend. Particularly as Ross County are very beatable on current form.
Since qualifying for the League Cup final they have lost three out of four league matches and failed to score in all three. Away from home they have won just four from fourteen games all season although one of them was at Rugby Park and it was all but over after four minutes.
