Inverness v St Johnstone Betting Tips And Predictions
Location: Tulloch Caledonian Stadium
Date: 27th August 2016
Inverness Caledonian Thistle will have a hard time for the rest of the season.
That might seem like a bold prediction but the early evidence is overwhelming. Last week’s 5-1 trouncing at Tynecastle was coming. They gifted Ross County three goals in the Highland Derby and were completely ineffectual against Partick Thistle.
Caley Thistle are the only club yet to pick up a point and have the worst goal difference by a considerable margin. Shipping ten goals in three games tells it’s own story. But it is the manner in which they conceded that will be of most concern.
The last thing they will have wanted was a game against one of the top sides in the league. Hence they won’t have wanted a visit from St Johnstone. Because make no mistake, the Perth Saints are one of the best teams in the Scottish Premiership.
Despite losing to Celtic last week they kept plugging away after going 3-0 down. With minutes remaining they were within a kick of a ball from getting right back into it. That came after a creditable 0-0 draw with Aberdeen and a 1-2 win away to Motherwell.
They have also had an excellent League Cup campaign culminating in their 3-2 victory over Hearts in the last round. Danny Swanson scored again against Celtic and Steven MacLean picked the third of his league campaign.
You can’t discount the possibility of them both scoring again this weekend. Especially if Caley Thistle continue to defend as shabbily as they have been. But there are some head to head stats that you need to take note of.
Of the last twenty-two meetings only three have seen more than two goals and both teams have scored just four times. It is up to you how much faith you apply to H2H stats but history suggests there won’t be much goalmouth action.
