Inverness v Ross County betting preview
Location: Tulloch Caledonian Stadium
Date: 2nd January 2016
Both Inverness and Ross County have been goal heavy of late and the Highland Derby has a reputation for high scoring affairs.
Both sides have seen +3.5 total goals in four of their last five matches with the Hamilton v Inverness match on Wednesday seeing a total of seven. The Staggies had to settle for a five goal thriller in their home win to Kilmarnock on Tuesday.
The most recent meetings between the sides this season both saw 1-2 wins for the away side and that’s a result you couldn’t rule out this time around.
It wasn’t that long ago that Ross County hadn’t scored an away goal in the second half of the Scottish Premiership but a 1-3 away win at Hamilton put pay to that stat. Their games have seen plenty of goals of late with twenty-two in their last five games.
For their part Caley Thistle have seen twenty-one goals over the same timeframe. Four of their last five home matches have seen +2.5 total goals with the aforementioned League Cup game against Saturday’s visitors being one of them.
This promises to be a cracking encounter with two in form sides pushing hard for a top six finish. Five points separate County in fifth from sixth place Inverness but it is John Hughes’ side who have made the greater strides in recent weeks.
There is no other way to go in this game than goals even though there are rumours that The Staggies’ top scorer, Liam Boyce, could be missing with a hand injury. They still have plenty of firepower in Michael Gardyne and Craig Curran with Brian Graham an able deputy.
For Inverness Caledonian Thistle Liam Polworth has scored four goals in his last three games and Miles Storey is an ever present danger having scored six in his thirteen league games.
Inverness v Ross County Betting Preview Betting Odds
It’s a tight game to call on the WDW markets but I wouldn’t be overly enthused by the favourites tag on Ross County with McBookie, bet365 and Ladbrokes. William Hill are going against the grain by offering 2.88 (47/25) on the away side but everywhere else they are shortening.
As mentioned this game should be all about the goals and both teams to score should be considered at a high of 1.8 (4/5) with Betfair. I can see more than two goals in this game though and the 1.98 (49/50) from McBookie on +2.5 goals looks to have plenty of value.
The price has been drifting all day and may well touch even money or better before it settles down or perhaps even shortens again.
