Inverness continue to confound my expectations.

The Caley Jags have avoided defeat in each of their last five games, winning two of them. Most impressively they have played three of the top four sides in that time.

The only side of the current top five who they haven't played are Rangers. And The Gers will have their work cut out to emulate Hearts' victory. They have won just one of their last five matches, a home win over bottom of the table Partick Thistle.

The fact that it came last time out will give them reason to be optimistic. But the punters have little faith with their opening price of 1.67 (4/6) having lengthened to odds against in places.

That is down to Caley Thistle's good form as much as Rangers' poor form. The most credit I can give Richie Foran's side is their ability to score important late goals.

They have scored late against St Johnstone, Celtic and last time out in Hamilton. Those goals secured an unlikely looking five points without which they would be bottom of the table.

Hence why I still hold concerns about their predicament. The stats suggest they have one of the highest goals to chances ratios in the division. That's no bad thing but in reality that usually evens itself out.

Rangers are at the opposite end of the scale with their possession and chances yet to turn into expected goals. That is also likely to turn about at some point. Although a Friday night in Inverness may not be the most likely place for it to kick in.

INVERNESS V RANGERS BETTING TIPS AND PREDICTIONS BEST BETTING ODDS

Rangers are favourites to win at 2.05 (21/20) with McBookie. Inverness are available at 4.1 (31/10) with Marathon Bet. A draw is priced at 3.5 (5/2) with McBookie, Coral and others.

Both teams to score does look likely given the stats. Hence the short price of 1.75 (3/4) with 888Sport. The price of 1.99  (66/67) from Marathon Bet for +2.5 goals holds a little more appeal.

Goals Stats

Both teams have scored in all but one of ICTs Premiership matches averaging four goals per home game.

Both teams have scored in all four of Rangers Premiership away games.

Head To Head Stats

There are no recent league meetings between the sides.

Rangers won 1-0 in a League Cup match at Ibrox in 2014.
