William Hill Scottish Cup Quarter Final Replay
Location: Tulloch Caledonian Stadium
Date: 14th March 2016
One month ago Hibernian were on the season of their lives but they have gone on to make a right Hibs of it.
On the 7th February they came back from 2-0 down away to Hearts with just ten minutes remaining to reach the quarter final of the Scottish Cup. They were already in the League Cup Final and were possibly going to reel in Rangers in the Championship title race. The future was bright for The Hibees.
Except it wasn’t, really. They lost the League Cup final to a last minute goal. They are now third in the league after winning once in their last five games and they have one hell of a difficult away trip to Inverness to try and get back to Hampden for the Scottish Cup semi final.
It is made even harder by the manner of their defeat on Sunday. It followed the same pattern as all of the games they have failed to win of late. They dominated proceedings in terms of possession and chances created but they lost. Again.
Their confidence is going to have taken a real blow after this one, if it hadn’t done already. There are only so many times a team can take the game to the opposition and lose before they begin to question their own metal.
Much like the St Johnstone v Ross County Betting Preview I am flabbergasted that everybody isn’t on the same wavelength on this one. The price for an Inverness win on Wednesday has drifted pretty heavily and this confuses the life out of me.
Sure, The Caley Jags are in poor form of their own but they are also the Scottish Cup champions. With a winnable semi-final tie against Dundee Utd waiting in the wings you can be sure they will at least give it everything they’ve got. And you have to wonder how much more Hibs have left in the tank after Sunday.
