This Inverness v Hearts betting preview is less about tips and more about a word of warning.
There is no doubting what a cursory glance at form and league table positions should predict for this match. The Jambos have been having a fine first season back in the top flight. They are looking good for a European berth and have disposed of Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup.
Caley Thistle have clambered back into the top six but that is as much to do with others faltering as there own good form. Ryan Christie leaving for Celtic has left them desperately short of creativity and Miles Storey’s early promise has evaporated like the Moray Firth mist on a summers day.
So Hearts should be favoured for this game quite comfortably it would be safe to assume? Not so much. Hearts haven’t registered a win against Inverness in ten attempts and that has to be taken into consideration.
The Jam Tarts have also failed to win in their last five away games, failing to score at all in three of them. Two of those games came against, arguably, the current worst teams in the league, Kilmarnock and Hamilton.
In fairness to Inverness their form isn’t all that bad either. While struggling to win it’s just one defeat in their last nine games and at home Celtic are the only team to beat them in six matches. Hearts were soundly seen off here in September by a 2-0 scoreline and that was just one game after Hearts’ seven game winning run was ended by Hamilton.
Inverness v Hearts Betting Preview Betting Odds
It’s no surprise to me that Hearts are beginning to drift a little in the betting. They are now available at 2.4 (7/5) with Betfair and that could lengthen a little further by kick off. The Caley Jags are available at 3.1 (21/10) with Betfair while the draw comes in at a best 3.5 (5/2) with McBookie. Drawfinders could do a lot worse than look long and hard at this one.
Goals wouldn’t entice me too much here either despite +2.5 total goals priced as high as 2.1 (11/10) with Mcbookie, Paddy Power, Coral and Betfair. Both teams to score is a best 1.85 (17/20) with McBookie and Coral.
A game best left alone in my opinion, particularly with the effects of storm Gertrude forecast to continue right through to kick off. The Tulloch Caledonian Stadium is very exposed and the wind could have a disastrous effect on this football match.
