This final game between Inverness and Dundee might just be the one game that means something.
Seventh place is still up for grabs and if nothing else the board at both clubs will be eager for the extra cash. So should the managers with the difference in prize money enough to get them one more decent player in for next season.
Caley Thistle are the current incumbents with one point separating them from Dundee as it stands. That makes it a must win for The Dee, obviously, but will the players be as keen as other parties to try and grab seventh place at the end of a long season?
That’s a hard variable to determine but the Dundee players will be aggrieved at not making the top six and should, perhaps, be eager to prove themselves as the best of the rest. They certainly don’t lose many games with just five defeats in their last fourteen matches.
The head to head stats do paint an interesting picture, though. Six of the last eight Premiership meetings between the sides have ended in a draw with all but one of them a 1-1 draw. That includes all three of the Inverness home games since 2013.
Dundee have been the Scottish Premiership’s draw kings with fifteen of their thirty-seven matches ending in a stalemate. Eight of those draws have come on the road and Inverness have drawn three of their last eight home matches.
Backing another draw here could very well be the way to go.
