Betfred Scottish League Cup
Location: Tulloch Caledonian Stadium
Date: 30th July 2016
Inverness won over the doubters with a comprehensive victory against Dunfermline.
Anyone who says they saw a 1-5 victory coming is having you on. It was as surprising as it was impressive. But despite it they still need another win to guarantee qualification to the final stages.
The fixtures have fallen kindly with their last game against bottom of the table Arbroath. It is a game that Caley Thistle should expect to win and comfortably. If Iain Vigurs can repeat the form that saw him score a hattrick against The Pars last Saturday it could be a long afternoon for The Lichties.
Billy King also scored his first goal for the club and that will please Richie Foran immensely. They were looking like being left behind in transfer dealings so King hitting the ground running is a boost. Kevin McNaughton has also got three ninety minute sessions under his belt.
New striker Scott Boden got himself a goal in the 1-1 draw with Dundee Utd although there are still concerns about their strength in depth up front. For the time being they should have enough to see off Arbroath who look destined to finish bottom of the group.
Their 0-2 home defeat to Cowdenbeath was also somewhat surprising. Dick Campbell will be scratching his head over that one. But he will fully understand if Inverness have a comprehensive win on Saturday.
Inverness v Arbroath Betting Preview Best Betting Odds
Inverness may be a little short at 1.17 (1/6) with bet365 and others. Arbroath are as high as 20/1 with Betfair. Marathon Bet are best price for the draw at 8.5 (15/2).
Both teams to score doesn’t tempt despite the odds against price of 2.25 (5/4) with Skybet. They are also best price for +2.5 goals at 1.44 (11/25) and that has little appeal. Under 4.5 goals could be worth considering for accas at 1.3 (3/10) with Boylesports.
You would need to go as high as -2 Asian Handicap to get any backable price on Inverness at 1.77 (10/13) with McBookie. While it’s likely that the home side will win by at least two goals the price is shorter than hoped. If it drifts a little further it can come into the reckoning.
