Despite this game being played the day after Valentines there’ll be no love lost between Inverness and Aberdeen.
Not that there’s any animosity between the sides but neither side likes to get done over by the other. The games are usually tight affairs with at most one goal separating them in the last eleven meetings.
The same should be expected again with Caley Thistle having lost just once in their last ten games. Celtic are the only visiting team to win here in the last seven and the last three have failed to even register a goal. Wins are thin on the ground, though, with only Ross County, Kilmarnock and Stirling Albion falling victim.
Aberdeen haven’t half re-found their own form, too. Since their horrendous collapse in September and October they have lost just twice in their last fifteen games. They both came away to their closest challengers, Celtic and Hearts. It’s not just that they have won their last four games either, it’s the manner in which they have done so.
They really look to have the bit between their teeth again having made ground on Celtic in the title race. Adam Rooney has eighteen league goals this season, as many as he managed in the whole of the last one, and in Simon Church they seem to have found an excellent foil. He is the partner that David Goodwillie never was no matter how much Derek McInnes attempted to play him into form.
It would be foolish to rule John Hughes’ side out of this but Aberdeen look to be playing better than even their best form at the start of the season. A close game is likely but one that Aberdeen look like edging.
Inverness v Aberdeen Betting Preview Betting Odds
The Dons have shortened slightly in the betting from an original even money to a best 1.91 (10/11) with William Hill, Coral, McBookie and Ladbrokes. The Caley Jags are available at 4.33 (100/30) with Skybet and McBookie with the draw best with Coral, McBookie and bet365 at 3.5 (5/2).
Both teams to score has got a chance going by the last three head to heads but Inverness have been struggling for creativity since Ryan Christie left for Celtic. They are still dangerous at set pieces and The Dandies have conceded five goals in their last two away matches. At a price of 2.05 (21/20) with Coral it is worth considering.
Three or more goals pays 2.2 (6/5) with Betfair and is also worth considering with the weather conditions looking ideal for football.
I have already invested in this game as part of the Even Money Double bet from the Scottish Football Accumulator Tips page so require +1.5 total goals for that bet to land. As such I won’t be looking elsewhere but backing Aberdeen to win in some form wouldn’t be the worst thing you could do on Monday.
