Hibernian v St Johnstone Betting Preview
Scottish League Cup Semi-Final
Date: 3oth January 2016
There is one sure fire way of picking a winner for this Scottish League Cup semi-final between Hibs and The Saints.
All you have to do is attribute a value to each side and flip a coin. There’s no guarantee you will pick the right winner but you have as much chance of getting it right as any other way I can think of.
I genuinely do think it is too close to call. For Hibs it represents a chance to go one step further than they managed in the Scottish Cup last season. Then it was Falkirk who saw them off despite Hibs being the dominant side.
For St Johnstone it represents a chance to get to their second cup final in three years, an amazing achievement for such a small club. You could substitute Tommy Wright for St Johnstone as you could, indeed, a good sized chunk of their players. It means the same thing to all of them.
There is plenty to be won, and lost, for both sides in Saturday’s important encounter and for me that might mean a cagey affair. The game will also kick off in the midst of the storm that the sea is blowing in (nothing metaphorical intended) and that could affect the quality of play.

The punters are certainly fancying Hibs with their price shortening from a high of 2.75 (7/4) right in to 2.3 (13/10) in places. Conversely that means that The Perth Saints have lengthened to as high as 2.9 (19/10) with McBookie. If they hit 2/1 they need to be seriously considered in some capacity. The draw is priced at 3.5 (5/2) with Skybet and this could be a good shout for draw finders.
A cagey affair in difficult conditions could mean a lack of goals, as has been the way of St Johnstone of late. Both teams to score is a little less than desired at 1.8 (4/5) with Coral while +2.5 goals has a little more appeal at even money with bet365, William Hill and Betfair.

If St Johnstone lengthen to 2/1 or more they would have to be backed in some capacity. Draw No Bet perhaps or to score +1.5 team goals. As it stands it’s very hard to call.
