Hibernian v Livingston Betting Preview
Location: Easter Road
Date: 5th April 2016
Hibs and Livi are both desperate for points here with their future divisional status very much on the line.
For Hibernian it’s all about getting promotion and with the form Raith Rovers and Falkirk are in the less play-off games the better. Livingston are trying to survive in the Scottish Championship and if they can can do so without the need for a playoff all the better for them, too.
The Hibees were stick ons to finish second until the League Cup final got in the way. From three weeks out from the final they have amassed a single point in five Championship matches. Falkirk’s outstanding form has left them trailing The Bairns and Raith Rovers have closed the gap to fourth to just four points.
There is no more room for slip ups for Alan Stubbs’ team with two very winnable games before they host Falkirk a week from today. Win all three and they will be back in second place before the Scottish Cup semi-final distracts them all over again.
Livingston should be delighted with even a point from Easter Road as that would close the gap to Dumbarton who are likely to lose to Rangers on Tuesday. The problem is that they still have four very difficult ties remaining and they will need to pick up a few more along the way.
When you look at the form that Hibs are currently in and how soft their underbelly has become perhaps David Hopkin might see this game as one they need to go for. They certainly have increasing confidence having lost just one in six and taken maximum points from Falkirk of late.
Hibernian v Livingston Betting Preview Best Betting Odds
Hibs are way too short to consider on current form at a best 1.38 (3/8) with Marathon Bet. Livi are as high as 9/1 with William Hill and McBookie while the draw is available at 5.1 (41/10) with Marathon Bet.
Both teams to score certainly has a chance on current form and is worth considering at 2.2 (6/5) with Coral, Ladbrokes and Betfair. Goals backers can get 1.8 (4/5) with Skybet and bet365 for +2.5 goals and that does look likely.
All three head to head meetings this season have been tight affairs with no more than one goal separating the sides. Considering they were when Hibs were on form backing them on the handicaps has zero appeal.
As I already have a lot invested on Hibs to win the league without Rangers I won’t be taking it on but both teams to score looks worthy of an investment if it doesn’t conflict with any other bets.
