Hibernian v Dundee Utd Betting Preview
William Hill Scottish Cup Semi Final

There is no doubting that both these sides are better than their current form suggests
None the less this Scottish Cup semi-final is between the two most lamentable sides in the country. Dundee Utd look destined for the drop and Hibernian look destined to, well, who knows with this Hibs side?
If The Hibees reach the Scottish Cup final it could still be a remarkably good season for them. Finalists in both of the major cups and promotion from The Championship still not beyond them.
Alan Stubbs still has the chance to go down as one of the greatest achievers in the clubs history. It’s a good chance, too, although not as good as winning a game at home while holding a 2-0 lead against ten men with three minutes remaining.
Dundee Utd are almost certainly going to be plying their trade in The Championship next season. A few wee mini revivals simply wasn’t consistent enough to lift them off the bottom and one win in their last five games has sealed their fate.
Whether Hibs will be there with them remains to be seen but the Hibs fans have lost all faith in a Premiership return. Ticket sales would suggest that neither set of fans has any faith in reaching the cup final and even if they do, are they not set for a battering anyway?
Hibs’ form against Premiership sides this season certainly suggests that they have something to offer this game. Between both major cups they have seen off Dundee Utd, Aberdeen, Hearts, St Johnstone and Inverness before losing narrowly to Ross County in the League Cup final.
The 3-0 victory over The Arabs in the League Cup was comprehensive but that’s when they were in very good form. That was before their confidence took a right battering. That was before they reinforced the stereotype and cemented the pejorative term ‘Hibsed It’ into the lexicon.
It’s going to take a major effort to lift the players enough to get them up for this semi-final but that statement applies to both sides. Dundee Utd might still be talking about survival but everyone knows it’s beyond them.
Last week’s defeat to Inverness will have hit them hard. They didn’t compete at all and must have left that pitch thinking they are simply not good enough. It’s a shame because they are good enough, they just haven’t been showing it consistently.
From the fans to the players of both clubs there is a doom and gloom that could be difficult to shift. This semi-final could simply boil down to who wants it more but right now I am not convinced that either side really, really wants it.
If Hibs attack this game like they did for eighty-five minutes against Falkirk, like they have for eighty percent of the season, they will have a place in the final. But even if they are 2-0 up with minutes remaining can you trust them? Can you heck.
Hibernian v Dundee Utd Betting Preview Best Betting Odds
Hibs are slight favourites for this one at a best priced 2.5 (6/4) with Paddy Power but that’s still a hint too short for my liking. Dundee Utd are available at 3.1 (21/10) with Boylesports while the draw is best priced with Ladbrokes at 3.5 (5/2).
If both sides turn up on the day and perform as they can both teams to score will have a real chance at 1.79 (11/14) with 888Sport. Hibs have kept one clean sheet in thirteen matches while Dundee Utd have kept four over the same period.
Over 2.5 goals also has a chance at 1.97 (13/14) with Marathon Bet but it’s all dependant on both sides confidence not being crushed.
