Alloa did Hibs a huge favour last weekend but they couldn’t take advantage or scratch their back in return.
Many will consider Hibs’ 0-0 draw with Livingston as two points dropped but it was all forgotten about on Tuesday evening. Victory over Hearts in the cup, their fourth victory over Premiership sides this season, has the Hibees dreaming of an improbable treble.
Winning the league will be next to impossible if they fail to take advantage of Rangers’ slip ups. On the last three occasions that Rangers dropped points Hibs had made no ground after the next game had been played. Any aspiring champions should have added at least four more points to their total in the situation Hibs found themselves in.
The situation is redeemable but opportunities like last weekend don’t come along too often, which is probably no bad thing where Hibs are concerned considering they seem to falter when they do. This week they have the chance to apply the pressure with a win before Rangers take on a tricky but surmountable trip to Queen Of The South.
This is an opportunity I expect them to grasp and with the breadth of attacking talent at their disposal they should take it quite comfortably. Even with some tired legs and absent bodies after their cup exertions covering a handicap shouldn’t be beyond them.
Alloa do look like there is a sting in their tail with five points picked up from their last five games. Jack Ross has been busy signing players with some pedigree including Paul Caddis, Mitch Megginson and Scott Gallagher. Having closed the gap to Livingston to four points the great escape is on but it may suffer a hiatus this weekend.
Hibernian v Alloa Betting Preview Betting Tips
Hibs are hard to back at a high 1.2 (1/5) with Coral, Skybet, bet365 and McBookie. Alloa are available at 15/1 with Marathon Bet while the draw is best priced at 6/1 also with Marathon Bet.
Hibernian do look good for covering a handicap and -1 is backable at 1.62 (8/13) with Paddy Power and bet365. Hibs -2 Asian Handicap could be worth taking a chance with at 2.05 (21/20) with Stanjames. Another bet that will be well fancied is Hibs to Win To Nil at 1.85 (17/20) with McBookie.
I have included Hibs -1 as part of the Even Money Double selection from the Scottish football accumulator tips page and that will do for me.
